Scattered showers in the afternoon will kick up and become more widespread in the evening as a cold front pushes east. Drenching downpours and damaging winds are possible through the evening and overnight, as is a thunderstorm, according to AccuWeather.
The stormy forecast canceled the Yankees’ second American League Division Series game against the Cleveland Guardians in the Bronx. The matchup was rescheduled for Friday.
Wind gusts could top 60 mph in the city and surrounding areas, especially around midnight. The gusts could lead to power outages on top of the threat of localized flash flooding.
Temps will hit 69 degrees on Thursday before dropping to 57 during the windswept overnight.
Conditions should dry out for Friday, when clouds will give way to sun later in the day. The high will be 67.
The weekend will be mild and pleasant too, with highs in the upper 60s on a sunny Saturday and mostly cloudy Sunday. Showers will return Monday.
