NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Winter weather is gearing back up on Saturday as New York City and its surrounding area expect more storms of snow, sleet and rain, making for a wet weekend.

Saturday will be cloudy with a low of 34, AccuWeather said. Snow is expected to arrive in the afternoon, possibly mixing with sleet in some places.

Snow and sleet will give way to rain as temperatures slowly rise into the evening, but before the changeover there could be a coating of up to an inch of snow in the city and much of Long Island.

A winter weather advisory is in effect from noon until 7 a.m. on Sunday for areas north and west of the city, where AccuWeather forecasts there will be 1 to 3 inches of snow accumulation.

“All these small snowstorms are the situationship that just won’t leave us alone. ❤️🙄,” NYC Sanitation joked on social media on Valentine’s Day.

The department issued another Winter Operations Advisory beginning at noon on Saturday, brined streets and bike lanes in preparation for the storm and prepared to deploy salt spreaders to manage the worst of the precipitation.

City officials warned that snow-covered roads may cause slick conditions, and ponding is possible overnight into Saturday and Sunday. There is potential for icing Sunday evening into Monday, and untreated surfaces will be icy and slippery. NYC Emergency Management encouraged New Yorkers to travel carefully, especially on the roads.

Sunday will have periods of rain and perhaps a thunderstorm, but will be breezy and milder, AccuWeather said.

The high will hit 49 before temperatures drop to a high of 33 on Monday, which will be rather windy with some sunshine.

According to the National Weather Service, an outbreak of Arctic air will bring dangerous cold to the area next week, and Tuesday will turn even colder despite more sunshine. The high will hit 30, AccuWeather said.

Clouds will be ushered back in on Wednesday as highs near freezing. A storm to the south may bring snow back to the area, especially at night.
