NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A messy mix of rain, snow and slush will fall on the Tri-State area late Monday and Tuesday before below-freezing cold arrives later this week, according to AccuWeather.

While Monday is breezy and partly cloudy, the first flakes of the snowstorm will arrive after dark, spreading west to east.

New York City will most likely see only rain, though it could mix with wet snow overnight, AccuWeather said.

There’s a better chance for snow accumulation northwest of the city. Nearby suburbs may see 1 to 3 inches, while parts of the Hudson Valley northwest of I-287 could get upwards of 3 to 6 inches.

It will otherwise be cloudy and cold Tuesday with a high of 40 degrees forecasted for Central Park.

Conditions will dry out by Wednesday, and the sun will return to finish the week. Highs will remain in the 40s on Wednesday and Thursday but will plunge by week’s end—the high Friday will be just 30 degrees.
