NASSAU COUNTY, NY (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A woman was arrested in Uniondale early Thursday morning after police attempted to place her in custody and she pulled out a shower rod to fight them, injuring three officers, the Nassau County Police Department said.
Police responded to a reported disturbance at a Park Place residence at 3:05 a.m. on Thursday where they found the defendant, Lourdje Elien, of Uniondale, exposing herself and screaming, detectives said.
Elien, 25, took a shower rod and attempted to use it on officers as they tried to place her in custody, police said.
Due to the defendant being violent and combative while resisting arrest, three officers sustained injuries.
Inside the residence, three children were found and described by detectives as “lethargic and upset.”
The defendant, the three officers and the three children were all transported to a local hospital by Nassau County Police Ambulances for assessment and treatment, cops said.
Elien was charged with three counts of second-degree assault; three counts of endangering the welfare of a child; fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon; public lewdness; and resisting arrest, police said.
