MINEOLA, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — A Queens woman was arrested for throwing red-colored liquid on a statue of former President Theodore Roosevelt during a protest outside a Long Island government building, police said Monday.
Allyson Fairbanks, 60, is accused of defacing the statue during what police described as a peaceful pro-Palestinian protest outside the Theodore Roosevelt Executive and Legislative Building in Mineola on Saturday afternoon.
Fairbanks, of Briarwood, allegedly threw the unidentified liquid and then fled the scene. The vandalism left $2,000 worth of damage.

She was identified after a thorough investigation and placed under arrest on Monday without incident, police said. Fairbanks is charged with criminal mischief and making graffiti.
Her arraignment at First District Court in Hempstead was pending Tuesday, court records show.
The Theodore Roosevelt Executive and Legislative building is the result of a $40 million renovation of the Old Nassau County Courthouse honoring the former New York governor and Oyster Bay resident. It houses the offices of the Nassau County executive.
