RUTHERFORD, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A woman was fatally struck by a New Jersey Transit train early Wednesday morning, authorities confirmed.
According to an NJ Transit spokesperson, the woman was struck at about 1 a.m. near Rutherford Station by Port Jervis Line Train 41, which had departed Hoboken at 12:39 a.m.
The train was headed to Port Jervis, New York, and expected to arrive at 3:15 a.m.
The 22 passengers and crew members on the train were not injured. Train service on the Main, Bergen, Port Jervis Line was temporarily suspended in both directions following the crash.
New Jersey Transit police are investigating the crash.
