Al Dukes is often the butt of a lot of jokes around WFAN – he’s STILL never living down the 911 call for the dog fight – but deep down, Al is a humanitarian (see also: Al’s Boring Beer), and his presence did it again this week.
On Monday morning, at the end of the 7 AM hour of Al & Jerry Recco filling in for Boomer & Gio, they got a call from Frank Luna, a Bradley Beach resident who caught Andrew Velazquez’s first career home run and gave back the ball no questions asked.

Al Dukes actually knows Frank, who invited Al to a charity event for the Asbury Park Little League that night; after the convo, Eddie noted that had Frank sold the ball, he could’ve raised a lot of money for that endeavor…but as it turns out, just being on the radio, and invoking Al, helped Frank raise thousands for the league!
On Tuesday, Frank called in to Moose & Maggie to share that his event at the Beach Bar at Asbury Park Convention Hall, combined with a matching donation from Jersey Shore Supplements, raised nearly $2500 from the sales of the “Leaping Luna,” a concoction of vodka, Monster Energy, and blue coloring for the Yankees.
A great story, made even greater by a selfless act, made even greater than that by its association with WFAN – take a listen to the whole Frank Luna saga starring Al, Jerry, Eddie, Moose & Maggie!
