WATCH: Josh Bailey, Islanders steal game five in Pittsburgh in double overtime

The Islanders are on the cusp of moving on after stealing a thriller on the road in game five.

After Jordan Eberle tied the game at two in the third period to force overtime, Josh Bailey became a New York hero by jumping on a mistake by Penguins goalie Tristan Jarry and burying the game-winner just 51 seconds into double overtime.

Jarry attempted to clear the puck from in front of his own net, but rushed it when he saw the Islanders crashing the zone. The clear attempt came right to Bailey, who moved in and beat Jarry from between the circles to silence the Pittsburgh crowd and give New York a 3-2 series lead.

It was the second playoff overtime goal of Bailey's career. His first was also against the Penguins, in game one of their first round series in 2019.

Rookie goalie Ilya Sorokin was sensational for the Islanders, making 48 saves to keep the Islanders in the game, and helping set up Bailey's heroics.

Game five will be back at Nassau Coliseum on Wednesday night, with a chance to clinch the series for New York.
