Gregg Giannotti was a Pulse of the People Award finalist in 2021 – but he may be ineligible in 2022.
In response to what happened on WFAN’s Boomer & Gio Show Friday morning, with Gio deciding to kibosh the planned wedding scheduled to happen at next week’s Boomer & Gio Boat Party, the Pulse of the People Committee has banned Boomer Esiason and Gregg Giannotti indefinitely “from any Pulse of the People activities or consideration, effective immediately.”
In a pair of Tweets sent Friday afternoon, the committee made the announcement, saying:
“The behaviors displayed by Esiason & Giannotti are grotesque and shameful, the Pulse of the People must take a stand as we put our values first. We do not believe these actions to be in line with character of a POTP nominee, but we also believe in second chances.”
The controversy stems from an incident earlier in the week where Marissa, the bride scheduled to get married aboard one of the boats at the August 13 Boomer & Gio Boat Party, called into Carton & Roberts to see if Craig would officiate the wedding.
Early in Friday’s show, Boomer’s first back from vacation, Boomer & Gio were discussing the situation, and Boomer wanted to cancel the wedding. Gio was torn, but after Marissa called in to plead her case, Gio’s opinion turned and he decided to side with Boomer – a choice that was captured in the Moment of the Day:
And now, as a result of that, former winner Boomer and 2021 finalist Gio are indefinitely ineligible for the award won this year by their cohort, Jerry Recco.
