Mike Vrabel did not land a head coaching job in this hiring cycle, a surprise to many. But Boomer would take him as a head coach, and believes the Jets could be one of several teams interested if Robert Saleh and company struggles again in 2024.
“That’s the kind of coach I want on my sideline. I want an intimidating coach,” Boomer said. “He’ll be at the top of everybody’s list next year. Don’t be surprised if he’s not on the Jets’ list. I think all bets are off. If Aaron Rodgers plays great, they’ll win, and everybody keeps their jobs, but if he doesn’t make it through and we’re back where we were this year?”
Saleh has already been at the helm for three double-digit losing seasons, and if Aaron Rodgers doesn’t bring the team to new heights, Vrabel will be one of several notable names that could be available to take his place.
“If they’re not doing well next year, Bill Belichick is out there,” Boomer said. “Vrabel is out there, Pete Carroll is out there.”
