Sal opened Wednesday’s show brimming with excitement about the Jets’ offseason moves, but was surprised to hear that BT had an almost opposite reaction.
Declaring that he has learned his lesson, BT is giving no flowers to Joe Douglas despite some promsing additions like Tyron Smith and Mike Williams.
“I’m done just grabbing positives when they’re not there,” BT said. “I’m done handing out offseason accolades. Let me tell you what Joe Douglas has done since he got hired by the Jets: Nothing.
“There are some merit to some of those picks, but Joe Douglas has done nothing as the GM of the Jets. If you can find me in the modern NFL, let alone getting a fourth year of no playoffs, how about a fifth year? Joe Douglas has been here five years as GM of the Jets and hasn’t made the playoffs.”
Douglas was getting plenty of praise last offseason, but once the games got started, it turned into disaster. BT will wait until Gang Green takes the field to give any kudos to the general manager.
“The sad reality is, the reason why there’s always this overhaul and an abrupt offseason recalibration is because, frankly, Joe Douglas hasn’t done his job well,” BT said.
