Buddy Boeheim appeared to take a cheap shot in Wednesday’s ACC Tournament game between Syracuse and Florida State.
The incident happened in the middle of the first half of Syracuse’s 96-57 win over the Seminoles when the 22-year-old senior and son of head coach Jim Boeheim was seen swinging a closed fist into the mid-section of Florida State’s Wyatt Wilkes.
Wilkes keeled over in pain and had to leave the game for a few minutes before returning. ESPN announcer Jay Bilas even said, “that looked intentional” after seeing the replay.
No foul was called, though, and Jim Boeheim defended his son after the game, saying it was “inadvertent.”

“I saw the play, the kid pushed him twice,” he said, per the NY Post. “I think it was inadvertent. It wasn’t much of a punch.”
However, Buddy issued a statement after the game to apologize and callied it an “act of frustration,” admitting it was wrong but also refrained from specifically calling it a punch.
Buddy also said he apologized to Wilkes in the handshake line after the game.
Buddy finished the game with 12 points and six rebounds in 22 minutes.
It is unclear if the ACC has plans to discipline Buddy. Syracuse plays Duke on Thursday.
