Kirk Cousins fired four touchdown passes in Thursday night’s loss to the Eagles, as the Vikings are now 0-2 to begin the year.
A free agent at the end of this season, Cousins has shown an ability to rack up passing yards, with the help of a stud wide receiver in Justin Jefferson. But if Minnesota struggles to win games, C-Mac says the Jets need to consistently be on the phone inquiring about Cousins’ availability.
“You absolutely have to be, on a week to week basis, calling the Vikings about Kirk Cousins,” C-Mac said.
“He can throw the ball down the field. Does he have his flaws? Yes. Does he lose in primetime? Yes. Did he lose to the Giants in the playoffs, and has he been labeled a robot who doesn’t allow breaking the script and being creative and making plays, fine, whatever. He throws the ball down the field with accuracy…he is just below a Pro Bowl quarterback.”
The Jets have emphatically put their faith in Zach Wilson, but C-Mac says Gang Green has a roster that is ready to win now, and if Wilson gets off to a rough start, they need to aggressively pursue a potential Cousins trade.
“He can take the Jets where they need to go. He is good enough to win with the Jets,” C-Mac said. “Zach Wilson is not. It’s that simple.
“Cousins is not Aaron Rodgers, but he is a good enough quarterback to possibly take you to a Super Bowl. It is back on the table.”
