The Mets have reportedly landed their president of baseball operations, hiring David Stearns to land the big fish Steve Cohen has coveted for more than a year.
Questions will immediately be geared towards what Stearns' first order of business will be, and C-Mac believes one of the first moves will be moving on from Buck Showalter.
"Nothing against Buck. I don't think Buck necessarily deserves to be fired or that he has done a terrible job this year…I think he did a bad job this year, like everyone in the organization," C-Mac said. "When you have a year with the expectations that the Mets had, and then you fall on your face in July, everyone did a bad job.
"It's Stearns team, and certainly if he wants to bring in a new manager, that's what he should do…I like the idea of him coming in with a clean slate and bringing in his own guy."
Showalter guided the Mets back to a playoff berth and an encouraging 101-win season in 2022, but the team as a whole took a major step back in 2023. He has one year left on his deal after this season, but C-Mac doesn't see Showalter seeing the final year of that deal.
"For me," C-Mac said. "I think this signifies the end of Buck Showalter managing the Mets."
