Evan had to ease into his opening Mets rant after Tuesday's blown lead to the Yankees, only because the team has seemingly sucked the life out of him.
"I'm dead. They took my soul last night," Evan said. "I'm a beaten man.
"Max Scherzer has a new nickname. He's the slump buster. Ask DJ LeMahieu, Anthony Volpe, Anthony Rizzo. Max Scherzer will get you out of your slump."
Evan has been critical of Scherzer for most of the season, and that didn't change on Wednesday, where talking about the struggling ace seemed to rile the emotions up and really get Evan's rant going, rather than being defeated.
"Just when you think this is gonna be a good night at Citi Field for the Met fan…Max Scherzer decided to pull off his specialty," Evan said. "If you ask me, what is Max Scherzer known for as a Met? It's this crap.
"Since they left Atlanta last year, this has been a soft team, this has been a gutless team, and this has been a bad team."
