Catcher Francisco Alvarez, the No. 2 prospect in all of baseball according to MLB.com, is the lone actual Met headed to the game, which will be played Saturday, July 16 at Dodger Stadium.

The half? That would be Cubs outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong, whom the Mets selected No. 19 overall in the 2020 MLB Draft and sent to Chicago last summer in the Javy Baez deal.

Alvarez has had a great season so far, slashing .277/.368/.553 with 18 home runs and 47 RBI in 67 games at Double-A Binghamton.
He was promoted to Triple-A Syracuse earlier this week, and is 1-for-8 with a walk over his first two games there.

There have been calls for the Mets to bring up Alvarez amidst their recent struggles, and fans will get a good chance to see a man who may be the No. 1 prospect in all of baseball by the end of the year, if and when current No. 1 Riley Greene exhausts his prospect eligibility with the Tigers.

Crow-Armstrong is currently rated as the Cubs’ No. 3 prospect and No. 79 overall in MLB, and heads to LA on the back of a strong season in A-ball. He has split the year between the Cubs’ Low-A affiliate in Myrtle Beach and High-A affiliate in South Bend, and the 20-year-old has authored a .315/.382/.523 slash line with nine homers, 36 RBI, 14 steals, and 53 runs scored in 56 games.
