The Giants' worst fears were realized after Calvin Austin III was carted off the field at practice on Tuesday.

According to multiple reports, Big Blue's hopeful slot receiver suffered a torn ACL in what was a non-contact injury, and he will miss the entire 2026 season. The loss of Austin is a big one for the Giants, as the 27-year-old was expected to shoulder the load that was formerly handled by Wan'Dale Robinson.

Austin signed a one-year, $1.5 million deal with New York this offseason, and it is now likely that he will never see a snap with his current team. The Giants will now have to pivot and plan their replacement weapon in the slot for quarterback Jaxson Dart, who fortunately looks as if he will be getting his top receiving target back in Malik Nabers, who is very much in play to start Week 1.

With Austin out for the season, one of the several Giants wide receiver adds this offseason could now be in play for a roster spot, including Odell Beckham Jr., who will play in the team's preseason finale against the Jets, as Joe Schoen confirmed to Boomer and Gio on Wednesday morning.
