The Giants scored just five minutes into their game in Jacksonville, but the next 12 were painful for their offensive line.
Left guard Ben Bredeson was ruled out with a right knee injury after leaving the field late in the first quarter, and less than two minutes into the second, right tackle Evan Neal limped to the sideline with a left knee injury.
Bredeson appeared to have been injured on a 1st-and-10 play that was ruled dead due to a penalty, and one play later, he went down after Daniel Jones’ pass to Marcus Johnson was dropped. He went into the medical tent and was then taken back to the locker room on a cart, and quickly ruled out with the injury.
He was replaced by rookie Joshua Ezuedu, but as Bredeson is the backup center as well, fans and likely the Giants’ staff were holding their breath that Jon Feliciano, who entered the game with a groin issue, would be able to go the whole way.
Neal, meanwhile, got his left knee rolled up on by Jacksonville’s Roy Robertson-Harris while blocking on a Saquon Barkley run early in the second quarter. He limped off and was also carted back to the locker room, and ruled out with about nine minutes to go in the second quarter.
Tyre Phillips replaced Neal at right tackle, and with two men now out, Devery Hamilton and Jack Anderson are the only reserve linemen left for the Giants.
