Guardians had to split up to multiple hotels after trying to check back in following rainout

The Guardians had a tough time finding a place to sleep on Monday night after game five was postponed, according to ESPN’s Eduardo Perez.

As Perez explained on SportsCenter Tuesday morning, Cleveland went back to the hotel it stayed at before coming to Yankee Stadium on Monday, but when the team returned after a rain delay of nearly three hours, the hotel had overbooked, and the team was forced to split up and find rooms at various other hotels in the area.

“They had to not only check out of their hotel and come here with their bags, not knowing if their plane was going to go back to Cleveland if they lost [Monday] night or to Houston if they won,” Perez said. “But they checked out. So they went to go check back in, but the hotel overbooked. They had to go to a different hotel, and not only that, they had to split up the groups.”

If any Yankee fans are hoping for some sleep-deprived Guardians trudging their way through a decisive game five makeup on Tuesday, adrenaline will likely carry Cleveland for a few hours in the Bronx with their season on the line. But it didn’t sound like an optimal way to spend the night after waiting through nearly three hours of rain.
