Report: Jason Kidd to interview for Celtics job, could be top target for Blazers

Former Nets great Jason Kidd could be on his way back to a head coaching job soon.

Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports is reporting that Kidd, currently an assistant coach with the now eliminated Lakers, is "expected" to interview for the head coaching opening with the Celtics, which may not be Kidd's only option. Haynes also reported that Kidd would be a top target for the Trail Blazers if the front office decides to move on from current head coach Terry Stotts following another early playoff exit.

Many expect Stotts to be relieved of his duties this offseason.

Kidd became a head coach just one year after retiring as a player, taking over the Nets job in 2013. He was named Eastern Conference Coach of the Month twice in 2014, becoming the fourth coach ever to win the award as well as a Player of the Month award during his playing days, and after leading Brooklyn to a playoff series win, his coaching rights were dealt to the Bucks for two second-round picks.

Kidd enjoyed early success in Milwaukee but could never improve upon it, and was fired midway through the 2017-18 season. He has been an assistant coach ever since.
