The Jets held a halftime lead on Sunday for the first time this season, needing 14 games to head into the locker room on the plus side.
It’s one of those random stats you see in a lost season like this, more prevalently as time went on and they continued to be tied or losing every week after 30 minutes – but, in this case, the streak being over leads us to an edition of Jets Quote Book, where Robert Saleh and a few players discuss what it meant to be the victors of the first 30 for the first time.

Head coach Robert Saleh: “Obviously, we had the lead, so we wanted to run the football, play good defense, score and keep points off the board. The mindset to win in December comes down to the second half and the fourth quarter. The guys felt good about where they stood, and so did we as coaches.”
QB Zach Wilson: “We just wanted to keep going. No different than normal, let’s keep going like we started. There’s not too much to think when you’re in at halftime – it’s a lot shorter than people think – so we wanted to keep the juice up and get going.”
DB Bryce Hall: “Any time we have a lead at the half, our mentality is that we have to finish strong. That’s what we tried to do.”
OL Connor McGovern: “Everybody was feeling good, and we definitely didn’t take our foot off the pedal; we wanted to keep pressing and find that next gear, but it didn’t go in our favor. The tides changed on us.”
LB C.J. Mosley: “We don’t go to the end of the game thinking we’re going to lose. We definitely came out fast; our defense started fast and the offense was moving the ball, so we had momentum – but we didn’t take anything off because this is the NFL, and they’re a team fighting for the playoffs. We knew they’d keep coming, and at the end of the day, they executed better than we did when the time was right. A good lesson for us as a team to be on our P’s and Q’s when it comes down to critical moments, with no mental errors or breakdowns.”
