We’re down to five finalists for the 2022 Pulse of the People Award, as Yankees GM Brian Cashman and WFAN’s own Keith McPherson have been eliminated from contention.

The announcement was made on Friday’s Carton & Roberts program, based on Tweets from the Pulse of the People Committee.

In Keith’s case, he was noted as “a rising star but still too green to win the award,” and was docked for both his “filming bleacher creatures from field level seats” and his Nets fandom – weird, since an actual Net is still a finalist, but hey, they’re the committee:

They did at least note to keep an eye on Keith because they see “multiple awards in his future,” but for this year, nada.

As for the Cash Man, well, the Yankees are successful now, but as the Committee notes, they’re built for April to September, so he can’t win until the Yankees do:

Props to the committee for the “if my aunt had balls she’d by my uncle” line, proving they also have the pulse of old French literature.

So, with Keith and the Cash Man out, the final five are Mets owner Steve Cohen, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred, Nets star Kyrie Irving, Barstool’s Stu Feiner, and our own Craig Carton, WFAN’s last hope and a man looking to add a thumb for the other thumb (aka his seventh award) in his final year of eligibility.

From what we heard from the committee, one more nominee will be eliminated next week to set the Final Four, and the winner will be announced from that group at Carton & Roberts’ next Night of Comedy at Gotham Comedy Club on June 30.

Between that and a screening of whatever the hell we’re calling the documentary on the ill-fated race at D’Jais, it’s sure to be a hum dinger!
