Sal & Jerry get into it over whether missing on Donovan Mitchell was a good thing

Sal Licata isn't losing any sleep over the Knicks missing out on Donovan Mitchell, but Jerry Recco says it's another indictment on the franchise's inability to bring in star power.

Who is right?

"You look at a team like the Jazz, who had two star players, they had Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell, who you wanted the Knicks to go get because they need star power, but the Jazz had Gobert and Mitchell and they didn't win!" Sal said.

"You need to get that first to get the second and third, and the Knicks seem to be incapable of getting that first one!" Jerry fired back. "For the last 20 years, aside from Carmelo Anthony, LeBron goes there, Durant goes there. You know where they don't want to go? Here!"

Sal doesn't believe that narrative is accurate, and as long as the Knicks build quality young talent through the draft, the stars will follow.

"That's one way to do it, and that's the wrong way," Sal said. "They keep trading away these guys, they haven't had draft picks for years, now they do."

We'll likely have to wait a few years to see who is right.
