The Knicks seemingly have their coveted point guard in sight in Jalen Brunson, who many expect to sign a four-year deal with New York once free agency opens at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
But the Knicks also reportedly have some frontcourt options in sight.
According to SNY’s Ian Begley, New York “will be aggressive” in pursuing center Isaiah Hartenstein, and also have Andre Drummond on their radar. The Knicks are expected to re-sign Mitchell Robinson and have Jericho Sims on the depth chart as well, so Hartenstein or Drummond could be depth pieces on the bench after the team traded Nerlens Noel and could be waiving Taj Gibson.
Hartenstein has only started four games in his career, but appeared in a career-high 68 last season, averaging 8.3 points and 4.9 rebounds per game while shooting 62.6 percent from the field. The 24-year-old is a former second-round pick.
Drummond, just 28 years old after breaking into the league in 2012, finished his season with the Nets after being included in the deal for James Harden. With Brooklyn and the 76ers, he appeared in 73 games and averaged 7.9 points and 9.3 rebounds per game.
