The Knicks’ harsh point guard history is well known, as the team continues to try to find a dynamic solution at the critical position.

Jalen Brunson could be a coveted target, or New York could look to find its point guard of the future through the draft, but it has reportedly also begun zeroing in on Malcolm Brogdon.

Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer reports that the Knicks have been “linked to Brogdon in recent days,” and sees the 29-year-old as a potential fallback if New York can’t land Brunson and also fails in its attempt to trade up in the draft to take Purdue’s Jaden Ivey, who is rising up draft rankings and could even go as high as No. 2 overall to the Thunder.

Brogdon played in just 36 games last season, and his 3-point percentage was the worst of his career at 31.2 percent, down from 38.8 percent the season before. But he did shoot 52 percent from inside the arc and averaged 19.1 points per game.

Brogdon would be a free agent after next season, hence his trade availability, but the Knicks may believe they don’t have many strong internal options for point guard, with Immanuel Quickley, Miles McBride, and Alec Burks being among the candidates. Quickley and McBride still have plenty of developing to do, while Burks struggled at the point guard position last season after both Derrick Rose and Kemba Walker went down.
