The Knicks could be without their best playoff weapon in game three against the Sixers.
According to multiple reports, including ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania, OG Anunoby is questionable Friday's game in Philadelphia due to a right hamstring strain. Anunoby, arguably the best Knicks postseason performer since the start of the first round, is averaging 21.4 points per game in the playoffs while playing his typical elite defense.
Anunoby appeared to suffer the injury while cutting to the basket late in Wednesday's game two victory over the 76ers. Anunoby pulled up but tried a dunk attempt moments later, though it was unsuccessful. Anunoby signaled to the bench for a sub immediately following the possession, and he never returned to the game.
Anunoby has a history of injuries, specifically his hamstrings. He injured his hamstring in game two of the conference semifinals in 2024 against the Pacers, and without him, the Knicks coughed up a 2-0 series lead before falling in game seven at home. Anunoby tried to play in that decisive game seven, but was clearly limited and was removed from the game after a brief stint on the floor.
The Knicks will look to take a commanding 3-0 series lead on the road, and several key factors in the series are now up in the air, as Anunoby is questionable, Mitchell Robinson's status is unclear after being a late scratch from game two due to an illness, and Sixers star Joel Embiid sat game two as well due to hip and ankle soreness.
