Craig Carton was enjoying a vacation when news broke that Donovan Mitchell was headed to the Cavaliers, not the Knicks, in a blockbuster trade.
And Craig was happy to be on vacation, based on the reaction by many New York fans when that news broke.
"I was glad I wasn't on the radio, because dumb Knick fans really ticked me off," Craig said. "I wanted Donovan Mitchell in the worst way.
He's a legit star. He's not the highest echelon, he's right under it, but a legitimate star in the NBA.
"The notion that the Knicks somehow failed us by not giving up RJ Barrett and five picks, at least three unprotected, means you know nothing about basketball."
The Knicks reportedly started their bidding back in July with a package that included Barrett, Obi Toppin, Mitchell Robinson, and three unprotected first-round picks. It was certainly a very competitive offer at the start of trade talks, and Leon Rose and company eventually declined to meet Utah's high asking price for the three-time All-Star.
Craig has no problem with the 'Bockers standing their ground, and doesn't think other Knicks fans should either.
