Bartolo Colon will be on the mound at Citi Field for Old Timers’ Day on Saturday evening, but he still believes he can be doing it for real.
Asked before the ceremonies if he believed he could still “get outs” at the MLB level, the 49-year-old said, via MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo, “Yes, though I have some age on me.”

Colon became a cult hero during his time with the Mets and in the back end of his long MLB career, and was even an All-Star with New York in 2016. But he hasn’t pitched in the bigs since 2018, and that was when he pitched to a 5.78 ERA in 146.1 innings of work with the Rangers.
