UPDATE: Per Buck Showalter, Escobar is available off the bench on Friday and is expected to be in the starting lineup Saturday.
"Talked to him today, he had quite the night," Showalter said. "Not working on a whole lot of rest, but finally got through with all the testing and he's trying to catch up on some rest as we speak.
"He'll be available and I expect him to be back in the lineup [Saturday] starting."
After Thursday's win over the Brewers, Buck Showalter told reporters that Eduardo Escobar was not with the team after being in the clubhouse before the game because of a "non-workplace event."
Showalter cited HIPAA as a reason for not disclosing what happened with Escobar, but according to Mike Puma of the New York Post, Escobar was taken to the hospital with an apparent vision issue.
Per Puma, Escobar appeared "disoriented" to teammates, and he was getting his vision checked.
Deesha Thosar of the New York Daily News also reported that Escobar was having issues with dizziness, resulting in a trip to the hospital.
The Mets have yet to announce whether Escobar will require an IL stint, but he is once again not in the lineup on Friday.
