The Mets have swung another deal before the trade deadline, and there’s likely more to come.

New York acquired outfielder Tyler Naquin and lefty Phillip Diehl from the Reds for prospects Jose Acuna and Hector Rodriguez.

Naquin, a lefty with solid numbers against righties, could platoon in the outfield with Mark Canha, and will likely take playing time from Travis Jankowski. Naquin is a true rental, as he is a free agent after the season.

Diehl, 28, has pitched 19 big-league innings in his career and has spent most of his season in Triple-A, where he holds a 4.24 ERA in 25 games. The former Yankee prospect has allowed seven runs in 5.2 innings in the majors this season.

Diehl could be used as a rare lefty option out of the Mets bullpen, but they will be expected to add multiple relievers before the deadline, especially with Drew Smith hitting the IL.
