Michael Carter enjoyed a career day in Sunday’s win over the Jaguars, racking up a career-high 118 yards on the ground in a 26-21 win over the lowly Jaguars.

After the victory, Carter gave all the credit to is offensive line, which helped gash the Jacksonville defense for an average of 7.6 yards per carry.

“They were just moving people out of the way in the best way,” Carter said. “Between the offensive line and the receivers blocking, we didn’t have to do all that much. We just had to make our guys miss at the second level.”

The Jets needed a big performance from the running game, and the offense as a whole, with five starters on the defensive side out due to COVID-19, including tackle Quinnen Williams, who was ruled out just hours before kickoff. But the replacements stepped up and helped snap a three-game losing skid.

“Morgan Moses had a great message this morning: somebody is gonna have an opportunity today,” Carter said. “I feel like everyone who played today who got an opportunity, they made the most of them. It was great to have some guys step up and just ball out on the day after Christmas, so that was pretty cool.

“From top to bottom, we’ve got guys that can play. That’s something we know every week. Whoever’s number is called, they’re gonna make a play.”
