Rangers first round schedule released, begin quest for Cup Tuesday at MSG

The NHL playoffs are set after Friday's regular season finale, and the Rangers have their first-round opponent.

It's a familiar one in the Penguins, who New York played four times in the regular season and won the last three, including a 5-1 blowout win and most recently a 3-0 shutout victory at The Garden.

The NHL released the playoff schedules early Saturday morning, and the Blueshirts will begin their quest for the Cup on Tuesday night in game one, hosting Pittsburgh at 7 p.m.

Each game will have a day off in between, as game two will be Thursday night at 7 p.m. before the series shifts to Pittsburgh for game three on Saturday at 7 p.m. The Penguins will host game four on Monday night a 7 p.m.

Game five, if necessary, will be back at MSG on Wednesday, May 11, game six in Pittsburgh on Friday, May 13, and game seven in New York on Sunday, May 15. The start times for games 5-7 are TBD.

Games one and four will be on ESPN, while games two and three will air on TNT.
