Report: Giants fear Leonard Williams injury is 'significant'

Giants defensive lineman Leonard Williams injured his elbow during the first half of Sunday’s loss to the Chargers, and that injury could end his season.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the injury to Williams’ elbow is feared to be a significant one, and with just four games left in the season, there is a chance the 27-year-old doesn’t return to the field.

Williams is having more tests done, per Rapoport, while Giants head coach Joe Judge told reporters after Sunday’s loss that Williams was set to undergo an MRI.

Williams was apparently preparing to go back into Sunday’s game before being shut down for the rest of the day.

Williams, signed to a three-year deal back in March, logged one tackle before exiting on Sunday, and left a gaping hole in Big Blue’s defense, as Williams is arguably the team’s top defensive lineman. The former Jet and sixth overall pick has 5.5 sacks on the season after logging 11.5 last year, and has 25 solo tackles, nearly equaling his mark of 57 last season.
