Steven Matz was the latest 2020 New York Met to say goodbye when he was dealt to Toronto late Wednesday night…and then the latest 2020 New York Met to take to Twitter to send a farewell message to the fans in Queens.
"I'll always be grateful to the Mets for the opportunity to play for my hometown team. Thank you to Mets fans for all your support throughout my time in NY. And thanks to all my teammates and coaches — I wish you all nothing but the best of luck moving forward!" Matz Tweeted Thursday night.
He soon followed up with another Tweet saying he was excited to join the Blue Jays…but as of the sending of the Tweets, his account still said "pitcher for the NY Mets."
I'll always be grateful to the Mets for the opportunity to play for my hometown team. Thank you to Mets fans for all your support throughout my time in NY. And thanks to all my teammates and coaches — I wish you all nothing but the best of luck moving forward!
