Tierney was riding high on Tuesday afternoon, visualizing a Jets offense that would torture their division foes with the addition of superstar Tyreek Hill.
Those fantasies were confirmed to remain nothing more than fantasies less than an hour later, when reports of Gang Green being in serious talks with the Chiefs in a trade for Hill were quickly followed by news that Hill was indeed being traded…but to the rival Dolphins.
“I like my life an hour ago a lot better than I do now,” Tierney said on Tuesday’s show. “For the last hour I’ve had visions of Zach Wilson rolling out to his right by design…Tyreek Hill, 82 yards to the house, touchdown Jets.
“I had this vision of what was starting to develop with the Jets offense…talk about a tease, man.”
A tease is all it will be, as now, instead of having a six-time Pro Bowler as the primary weapon for Wilson, the Jets defense will instead have to figure out how to slow down the receiver combo of Hill and Jaylen Waddle twice a year for years to come.
“Talk about a tease, dude,” Tierney said. “Talk about a swing of emotions. What the hell, is this a joke?
“Part of the impetus in making this happen was so that he doesn’t go to Miami.”
Tierney’s anger isn’t geared towards the Jets or their front office, who he believes has still had a great offseason, but rather at his own hopes for getting too high, only to be dragged back down almost immediately after.
“I can’t fault Joe [Douglas],” Tierney said. “If he wants to go to the Dolphins, he wants to go to the Dolphins…he’s not signing an extension at a place he doesn’t want to go.”
