The bad news: Jets No. 2 overall pick Zach Wilson was injured in the second quarter of Sunday’s game, leaving with a knee injury after an incomplete pass that actually led to a pass interference call that gave the Jets a first-and-goal at the two yard line.
The “good” news: four plays later, backup QB Mike White attempted his first career NFL pass…and completed a three-yard toss to Corey Davis for a touchdown:
White, a fifth-round pick by the Cowboys in 2018, had never even taken an NFL snap prior to Sunday, spending 2018 as Dallas’ third-stringer and 2019 on the Jets’ practice squad before being elevated back and forth between Gang Green’s practice squad and the active roster several times during 2020.
The Jets ran three rushing plays, one of which was nullified by a penalty, before White rolled to his left and hit Davis in the back of the end zone for the former Titan’s fourth receiving score of 2020.
