Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s MLB debut couldn’t have gone much worse.

Taking the mound for the Dodgers in game two of the season-opening Seoul Series, the hyped Japanese star was tagged in one inning of work, showing issues with control while being hit hard to the tune of five earned runs, failing to make it to the second inning in his anticipated introduction.

Yamamoto’s nightmarish outing went something like this: Xander Bogaerts single, Fernando Tatis Jr. hit by pitch, Jake Cronenworth triple to the wall in right field, Ha-Seong Kim sacrifice fly to deep center, Luis Campusano double, and a single from former Yankee Tyler Wade to give the Padres a 5-0 lead and chase Yamamoto.

Yamamoto turned down big offers from both the Yankees and Mets to team up in Los Angeles with Shohei Ohtani. There’s a long season to go, but it wasn’t a great first impression for the 25-year-old.
