It’s Ron Olson and Karen Perrin, the 104.5 The River Morning Show!
While they have been together on 104.5 The River since 2018, their radio careers started long before that. Ron Olson got the radio bug in 1974 and eventually found his way to the FM100 Morning Show in 1983. Karen Perrin got into radio in college and went on to work in the WMC radio promotions department before joining the FM100 Morning Show in 1994. Ron and Karen worked together on the FM100 Morning Show until 2008. They were elated to reunite in 2018 for the Ron and Karen Morning Show on 104.5 The River where you hear them today. In 2024 Ron Olson celebrated 50 years in Memphis Radio!
Ron and Karen understand what it means to serve their community and often volunteer and their time to campaigns across the Mid-South. Ron and Karen anchored the 104.5 Toy Truck Toy Drive for Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis, making the holidays better for more than 1500 children. Also in 2024 they made time for events including Courage thru Cancer, the Audacy company wide initiative ONE THING Earth day project, the Kosten Pancreatic Cancer 5K, the Think Pink Memphis Luncheon/Fashion Show for breast cancer education and the Memphis Botanic Garden. Ron and Karen are also longtime supporters of Make-A- Wish Mid-South and are advocates for reading in the community.
Once again in 2024, Ron and Karen were voted Best Radio Show in the “Memphis Most” poll by The Commercial Appeal and Best Local Radio Show in the Memphis Flyer Best of Memphis readers’ poll.
Off air, Ron is an accomplished artist, prankster, husband, father and very proud grandfather of two young grandsons. He’d also like you to know that in 2020, Ron Olson was voted into the Tennessee Radio Hall of Fame! Off air, Karen is a fan of Alabama football (her alma mater! Roll Tide) as well as a wife and mother of two great boys. Ron and Karen both love cheering on the Memphis Tigers and Memphis Grizzlies.
Ron Olson and Karen Perrin are friends on and off the air and are thrilled to have the opportunity to work in the city where they grew up. Thanks for listening!
