Dallas Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones joined the K&C Masterpiece on Monday to provide an update on DeMarcus Lawrence and Micah Parsons after both players suffered injuries in last week's win over the Giants.
Over the weekend, Todd Archer of ESPN reported that Lawrence's foot injury will likely result in him being placed on injured reserve and could need 4 to 8 weeks to recover. Jones said Monday that it's "Not a done deal" that Lawrence will land on IR, "but it's probably headed in that direction."
Jones said the Cowboys are always open for business and "will keep their lines of communication open with the league' but isn't expecting a team to trade a significant pass rusher so early in the season. And while Dallas is expected to host some defensive ends for a workout at The Star this week, they like their in-house candidates to step up.
Jones pointed to Tyrus Wheat, Carl Lawson and Marshawn Kneeland as players who will fill the void.
