DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Dallas Mavericks have placed point guards Luka Doncic and Trey Burke in the league's health and safety protocols, the organization announced on Wednesday.
Doncic and Burke become the fifth and sixth Mavericks to enter the protocols, joining Josh Green, Reggie Bullock, Maxi Kleber and Tim Hardaway Jr., who all landed on the COVID-19 list over the last several days.
According to the NBA's safety protocols, players who test positive are sidelined for up to 10 days or until they return two consecutive negative tests at least 24 hours apart.
The Mavs have been forced to sign several players via the NBA's hardship allowance to give them enough bodies to continue playing games. Theo Pinson and Marquese Chriss, who hadn't been with the team for more than a day, were key contributors in last night's 114-102 win over the Timberwolves.
Dallas announced on Wednesday that they had signed forward George King of the G League's Agua Caliente Clippers, and they are also expected to sign guards Charlie Brown Jr., Brandon Knight, and Carlik Jones to 10-day contracts, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania and ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
