It seems as though Howie Roseman is wasting no time to try and fix one of the biggest problems facing the Eagles in 2021: the salary cap situation.

Alshon Jeffery and Malik Jackson have agreed to contract adjustments, per ESPN.
Both agreements make it necessary for each player to agree on a new deal for 2021 or they will be released at the new league year. Jeffery is reportedly receiving a significant pay cut from his $12.75 million salary.

The Eagles find themselves in a precarious situation financially. The Eagles had $23 million in salary cap space in 2020, all of which rolls over into next season. According to OverTheCap.com, that $23 million is significant in knocking down the 2021 projected salary cap. Here's how it shakes out:

$88,084,761 (currently over the cap in 2021)
--- $23,496,337 (salary cap space that will roll over)
----------------------
---$64,593,761 (projected over the cap in 2021)

As reported by NFL Network, the expectation is that the Eagles will move on from both players, which allows the team to carry less salary on the books until they can cut them on June 1.

How does this impact the salary cap? Let's look at each players projected cap hit:

Jeffery: $18,486,500
Jackson: $13,611,000

Cutting both players post-June 1 could mean saving $23 million in cap space, with Jeffery accounting for $13 million and Jackson accounting for $10 million.
