ARLINGTON (1080 KRLD) - It should now be a lot easier to tell the former and current homes of the Rangers apart -- at least by name.
While Globe Life signage adorns the current home of the Rangers, it's being taken down from their former home across the street.
From now on, the old ballpark will be known as Choctaw Stadium.
The Rangers and Choctaw Casinos & Resorts announced a multi-year naming rights deal for the team's former home, which was reconfigured to host events such as football, soccer and -- starting next year -- rugby.
"The Rangers are thrilled to extend our great partnership with Choctaw for many years to come," said Ray Davis, Rangers chairman and managing partner. "Today’s naming rights announcement for Globe Life Park further extends Choctaw's presence in the Arlington Entertainment District, which also includes Globe Life Field and Texas Live!"
"Choctaw Casinos & Resorts is excited to expand our relationship with the Texas Rangers and be part of a stadium that has brought so much joy over the years to so many in North Texas," says Gary Batton, chief of the Choctaw Nation.
"We are proud to have our name on a field that continues to play an important role in the lives of North Texans and we look forward to sharing in the competition and enjoyment the stadium brings to the community."The Rangers played in the facility now known as Choctaw Stadium in 1994-2019 before moving into Globe Life Field for the 2020 season.
