DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Rangers owner Ray Davis says he has no plans to sell the franchise and he has faith that general manager Jon Daniels can right the ship.

There have been rumblings that Davis was looking to sell the club soon after the brand new Globe Life Field was built. But, Davis said Wednesday that's not the case at all and he's in it for the long-haul.

"As long as the good Lord keeps me on the Earth, I'll be here. I have no plans at all to sell the team," Davis said, via Chris Halicke of Sports Illustrated.

The Rangers finished the season with a record of 22-38, the second-worst in Major League Baseball. Davis spoke about the season and understands the fans' frustrations over their poor performance.

"All I can say for this year is I am embarrassed," Davis said. "I am embarrassed for our team. I am embarrassed for our fans and I wish it had turned out a lot differently. The fact is we have to correct what we didn’t do this year and make it better. That’s what are plan is over the next one or two years."

As for general manager Jon Daniels, Davis has confidence that he and his staff can get the team back into contention.

"I look at us making the playoffs I think six out of the last 10 years," Davis said. "Jon has demonstrated that he and his team can put together winning ball teams. If you thought about going out and replacing him, all you have is a question mark. We have a known entity. We have a group of guys that know how to get it done and I think they are going to get it done again."

Daniels discussed his and manager Chris Woodward's futures with the club in a recent conversation with the GBag Nation on 105.3 The Fan.
