Summerfest 2020 didn't happen--and starting next year, they're making a switch to a different format. Instead of running for a week and a half (except for Monday) in a row, the music event will happen on three succesive 3-day weekends.
According to a news release, next year, Summerfest will take place over three consecutive weekends (Thursday-Saturday), June 24-26, July 1-3, and July 8-10, 2021.
Organizers say the new format will allow for more national talent during the day, and will still include "everything fans have come to love about the festival." They say Summerfest will continue to be one of the most diverse music festivals in the world, offering something for every music fan, from rock to hip hop, and country to EDM, and everything in between." A single day ticket will cost $23.
The release doesn't mention if Summerfest will continue to have the same number of stages, or if that will be scaled back, but they do say there will be more shows throughout the summer at the brand-new American Family Insurance Amphitheater and the BMO Harris Pavilion.
