When it comes to being neighborly, you can't beat Madison, Wisconsin. Neighbor.com is out with its annual list of most neighborly cities--and Mad City tops the list. According to the website that helps people find places to store their stuff, many people spend their free time volunteering, doing kind acts for their neighbors — two things we think make a community more neighborly. They also say Madison has a low rate of crime, making it a "safe, happy city with a palpable community bond." I can see it now--a sign on the edge of town "Welcome to the city with a palpable community bond."
Rounding out the top 10: Rochester, New York was second, followed by Portland, Oregon . . . Minneapolis, Minnesota . . . Des Moines, Iowa . . . Washington, D.C. . . . Boston . . . Seattle . . . Pittsburgh . . . and props to Milwaukee, for coming in at #10.
