When Thea is singing and performing in her punk rock meets goth doll ensembles she’s carolesdaughter, but the artist says that when she takes that all off she is just Thea. Regardless, Thea’s style is authentic to who she is at her core whether she is performing or not.

“It’s more about the mentality,” explains Thea. “You know carolesdaughter doesn’t take s*** from anybody and thinks she the best, and you know like huge ego…that’s the way I can be confident with my music, but then you know like Thea, obviously is like the more sensitive side and like that’s what I use to write music…but I see it as interconnected.”

The 18-year-old tells us that she chose the moniker “carolesdaughter” because she loves her mother. “It’s really simple! Like everyone always asks me, ‘is your mom’s name really Carole?’ And I’m like ‘yeah! What else would it be?’” laughs Thea.

For the “Violent” singer her mother has always been her biggest supporter and her artist name serves as a tribute to her mom.

Thea has recently had major success with her track “Violent.” The record has been out for a year but gained traction on TikTok. The artist tells us that because it’s been a year since its release, “I think like looking back it’s not what represents like me specifically anymore. I think like new music and other stuff that I’m working on, I’m really excited to get that out because I do see, you know, somewhat of a disconnect…. I love “Violent” and I think it was a really good first song to kind of like introduce me to people, but it’s not like all that I am.”

Thea goes on to share the “Violent” is not indicative of the sound that fans can expect from her upcoming project. “At heart, I’m a singer-songwriter. It’s just me and my guitar and that’s what I’ve been doing forever,” shares Thea.

The singer has been candid about her time in rehab and tells us that while getting treatment she wrote over 130 songs, and the lyrics from her upcoming track are not excluded from her songwriting while in rehab. “It’s always been the easiest way for me to like get my emotions out,” says Thea. She also notes that putting her ugliest feelings into a pretty tune makes it all easier to talk about.

“The new stuff and the stuff that I’ve been like sitting on for a really long time is just acoustic songs that I want to produce out,” Thea says. She continues, “It’s definitely a different sound…. My next up song is called 'Trailer Trash' and it’s a completely different sound than 'Violent.' Like it’s like a summer anthem. It’s almost folky and almost a little western and it’s kinda super fun… I hope people still love it.”
