During the COVID-19 pandemic, Disney’s theme parks have undergone a lot of changes to help everyone stay safe while enjoying the magic of Disney.

While social distancing guidelines and mandatory capacity limits will be temporary, it appears that one of the theme parks will be making a change that will become the new normal.

According to Deadline, Disneyland will be retiring its annual pass program for good and bringing in a new way to reward the park’s “superfans.”

Nearly 40 years since Disneyland first started offering annual passes, it was announced that the theme park would discontinue them in January.

It was confirmed that new membership offerings would examine customer insights, value, and flexibility regarding what will be offered.

However, more details are officially coming out about the future of the new membership program.

Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, Josh D’Amaro, says he will not discuss official details just yet, but the new membership “will reflect the behavior of our superfans.”

While the program has been popular with Disney lovers, D’Amaro said these changes could help the park make improvements with crowd control once the park is fully operational.

On June 15, Disneyland Resort Theme Parks confirmed that it would welcome back non-California residents.

“Disneyland Resort theme parks to welcome back guests from outside California beginning June 15,” the tweet said.

The Disney Parks blog wrote that “Out-of-state visitors may now begin booking their return to the parks on Disneyland.com. Until June 15, all guests visiting the Disneyland Resort must be California residents visiting in groups no larger than 3 households.”
