BAY SHORE, N.Y. (WCBS 880) — A Long Island, New York video game store owner says two thieves recently made off with a Stormtrooper statue that was on display outside of the shop.
Surveillance photos posted by the store, Blast From The Past, on Facebook shows two women running off with the “Star Wars” statue, which was not for sale and was only in the shop as a display item.
“Our Stormtrooper was stolen yesterday,” the store’s owners wrote. “We are now looking to purchase something similar, any life size statues or toys we can use outside to replace him.”
According to a report from the New York Post, the 3-foot figurine is worth anywhere between $300 and $400. It had been on display at the shop since the store opened in December 2020.
“We had gotten a pretty high amount of requests if we would sell him or not, and we turned everyone down,” the shop’s owner told the paper. “Being a new business, we’re trying to get people to stop in and check it out.”
The owner, Richard McWilliams, says the police have been informed of the theft and are currently investigating.
The Post on Friday published video of the two thieves running off with the figurine in hopes of identifying the women.
As of Friday afternoon, the statue was still missing.
