Police in the Midlands say that man there shot his son in self defense over the weekend. The Kershaw County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported shooting around 11 AM Saturday at home in Lugoff. Upon arrival, Deputies found 36 year old Joshua Corey suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.
He was later taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries but left the facility prior to being discharged. The Sheriff's Office says Corey's father shot him after a fight between the two. That fight stemmed from an incident between Corey and his mother on Friday night. That incident resulted in Corey being arrested for 2nd degree assault. On Sunday, The Sheriff's Office announced that the shooting was done in self defense.
