alt-J - An Awesome Wave (2012) No wonder this thing won a Mercury Prize, it’s both loaded with atypical singles and a great listen top to bottom.
Arctic Monkeys - AM (2013) - I almost named a kid after a song on this album.
Father John Misty - I Love You, Honeybear (2015) Once upon a time, FJM did an interview where he ate a bunch of something (def mushrooms) before hand and they were fully kicking in by the end. He’s truly a treasure.
Fleet Foxes - Helplessness Blues (2011) If ever you’re feeling depressed and need a reason to return to nature, listening to Pecknold sing about orchards and apples and other simple bullshit is perfect. Rarely is a subject matter better captured on a recording better than this.

Alyssa:

Arcade Fire - The Suburbs - This is the album that really got me into the band. I played the crap out of this album start to finish when it came out, it was the best part of my 30 minute or so commute to my waitressing gig.

Walt:

Arctic Monkeys - AM – I really love this album.  I can listen to it from start to finish and not skip a track.  I’m fascinated by Alex Turner’s lyrics and phrasing!  Very English and very unique!
Nine Inch Nails – Hesitation Marks – For me, this album sounds very mature and progressive.  Not as angsty as what one might think of a NIN album, but that’s what I love about it.
Legend – Fearless – I just discovered this album and band earlier this year and absolutely love it.  I can’t believe it alluded me for most of the decade.  The band is from Iceland and shouldn’t be confused with Legend from Detroit.  Big difference.
Run The Jewels – Run The Jewels 2 – What an incredible album. Bringing together so many different genres and has just as varied an audience. One of the best shows I saw in the last decade was Queens of the Stone Age, Run The Jewels and Biffy Clyro. The audience was all over the place… young, old, black, white and everywhere in between. Everyone was into every artist all night long! The Dreaming – Rise Again – Ok, a little self serving but I have to include the one album I released in the past decade. Many have said it sounds like a Stabbing Westward record which I’ll take as a good thing ;)
